This is my working diary. I audit ecommerce stores for a living โ€” mostly Shopify โ€” and this site is where I write down what I actually find: the checkout steps where money leaks out, the experiments that worked and the ones that embarrassed me, and the benchmark numbers I use to tell a store owner whether their conversion rate is a problem or just normal.

The premise of every entry is the same: before you buy more traffic, look at what the traffic you already have is doing on your site, because that is usually where the cheapest revenue is hiding.

How the diary works

Diagnosis entries are audit write-ups. Experiments are logs of changes and their outcomes, including the failures. Benchmarks are the reference numbers I keep coming back to. Notes are shorter opinions formed after a lot of repetition.

Numbers in the diary are either sourced and linked, or clearly marked as an estimate with the assumption spelled out. Read the full editorial policy for details.
