Product Page Conversion: What to Fix First

When nobody adds to cart, everything on the page looks guilty. This is the priority order I use to separate the one thing that is costing money from the ten things that are merely imperfect.

1.4% The average Shopify store converts at 1.4%, and you need more than 3.2% to be in the best 20% of stores, per Littledata's benchmark of 2,800 ecommerce sites.
4.6% The average add to cart rate for Shopify stores is 4.6% in Littledata's benchmark. Above 7.5% is the best 20%, above 9.6% the best 10%. This is the number a product page is judged by.
23.48 Baymard's checkout benchmark found the average US checkout shows 23.48 form elements by default, while an ideal flow needs only 12 to 14. That gap is the first thing I count.
